The Freeze It! four-session class series is designed to help families reduce food waste, save money and prepare healthy meals at home. This course will be supported by grant funding and there will be no cost to participants.
Freeze It! teaches practical strategies for managing meals and preventing food waste. Participants will learn how to plan meals, safely freeze foods, prepare freezer-friendly recipes, and make the most of ingredients already in their kitchens. Each participant will prepare a full entrée during class and take the meal home, packaged for the freezer.
During the series, participants will explore:
- Meal planning strategies that reduce wasted food
- Safe freezing and food storage techniques
- Easy freezer-friendly recipes for busy households
- Tips for stretching grocery dollars while eating healthier meals
The program is part of a larger initiative funded by the North Central Regional Center for Rural Development to address household food waste in rural communities.
