This class utilizes classroom, demonstration, and hands-on skills training that enables students to safely and effectively attack common exterior fire situations. Topics include size-up, hose stream management, car fires, dumpster fires, gas cylinder and flammable liquid fires. This course is taught in a lecture/practical format, including “live” fire training evolutions using a mobile fire training simulator. This course provides basic “live” fire experience to new firefighters and will also serve as refresher training for experienced members.
Special requirements
- NFPA 1971 compliant firefighting ensemble and NFPA 1981 compliant SCBA with spare cylinder.

- Basic Fire Fighter Skills, Introduction to the Fire Service or Firefighter I certification
