You have just been dispatched to a school in your still area for an active shooter, and you are going to be one of the first arriving companies.  What’s your plan of action?  In this course, students will learn the changes that law enforcement has made to improve outcomes and also learn how the role of fire and EMS have changed and how we integrate into the successful scene mitigation.  If you look at past events a lot has been learned on all aspects of fire and police working with each other.  This course is for all levels of the organization, from the fire chief running the command post to the line personnel working the scene and treating patients, as well as how law enforcement would be incorporated building unified command and working as a team.   Looking into NFPA 3000 key aspects include interoperability communications, staging locations, rescue team formation, treatment of victims and overall quick response.  Students will also look outside the normal first responder realm and see how agencies such as highway safety, hospital management, school leadership, and others can work to improve the overall response.
