This course will identify operational pitfalls challenges that first due officers and commanders may face at working fires and rescue incidents. The class will offer ways to prevent these situations through training and preparedness and how to identify them during an incident. We will focus on preventing and quickly mitigating these instances through training and understanding how and why they happen. Using prior LODD reports and other class call reports, this class will create discussion for the class to walk through simulated events to identify potential red flags and pitfalls for crews. We will discuss single-family house fires, multi-family fires, and light commercial fires for demonstration. We will also touch on big-box fires.
