Presenter: Jamie Courter, PhD
Originally from Henderson, NC, Dr. Jamie Courter is currently an Assistant Professor and the State Beef Genetics Extension Specialist at the University of Missouri. Her passions have always centered around the importance and education of genomic technology in the beef industry. While only recently returning to academia, Jamie spent the first 5 years of her career in industry serving as a Product and Technical Services Manager for a leading genetics company. While different titles, both positions had the same goal: to help beef producers better understand the use case and benefits of genomic technology. Prior to these roles, she completed her PhD in Animal Breeding and Genetics from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, a Masters at South Dakota State University, and bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University.
