Description

In this course, Dr. Christine Navarre addresses the growing issue of internal parasite resistance in beef cattle and encourages the adoption of deworming practices that are different from traditional approaches. The presentation covers resistance, introduces the concept of refugia, and outlines how to implement selective deworming in a cow-calf operation. (Recorded October 8, 2024)

Presenter: Christine Navarre, DVM, MS, DACVIM-LA

Dr. Navarre received her DVM from Louisiana State University in 1990. Following graduation, she worked in a private mixed animal practice in Sulphur Springs, TX before going to Texas A&M for a large animal internal medicine residency and master’s degree. Dr. Navarre joined the Food Animal Section at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital where she spent 11 years providing clinical service and teaching of food animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Navarre is currently Extension Veterinarian with the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center and Louisiana Beef Quality Assurance Coordinator.

Dr. Navarre is Past President of the American Association of Bovine Practitioners and a Past President and current Treasurer of the North American Veterinary Community. She and her family raise SimAngus cattle and her extended family is involved with the beef and farming industries.


Continuing Education (CE) Credit

This course is approved for 0.5 hours of veterinary continuing education (CE) credit by the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine.

To earn CE credit, you must:
