The Missouri Criminal Code Handbook, now in its 39th edition, is the source document that all Missouri academies are required to use for teaching the objectives of the Missouri statutory law. It covers relevant laws and scenarios that you could encounter on the job.

About this handbook

This handbook is designed as a field reference guide for Missouri law enforcement officers. It is designed to provide only a summary and overview of many of the crimes most frequently encountered by officers. This version of the handbook incorporates the legislative changes made through the 2023 legislative session (effective as of Aug. 28, 2023).

Please note: This handbook does not contain every Missouri criminal statute nor does it contain every other law that officers may need to be aware of that may impact law enforcement operations

This handbook should not be relied on as a final authority. Any questions about the law or its application should be addressed with competent agency legal counsel.
