The primary objective of Horse Bowl contests is to provide an opportunity for youth enrolled in 4-H horse projects to demonstrate their knowledge of equine related subject matter in a competitive setting where attitudes of friendliness and fairness prevail. It is also hoped that these contests will provide an educational experience for both participants and spectators.

The Horse Bowl Contest is planned to be offered in a “blended format.” There is no limit on the number of teams a county can have participate in the virtual qualifying multiple-choice exam in March, but only the top four junior and top four senior teams will advance to compete in-person on campus in April. We encourage teams to meet safely under the supervision of a team coach or 4-H professional to complete the virtual exam. If an in-person component is not allowed, we will seek out a virtual option for those top teams. There will not be a Junior-Junior division this year.

Online Team Placement Exam: Saturday, March 20, 2021 to Sunday March 21, 2021
