Youths compete at Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eight Missouri 4-H members competed at the Eastern National 4-H Horse Roundup, held in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Expo on Nov. 8 in Louisville, Ky. Each member placed at the top of their respective contests at the state level before representing Missouri on the national level.

The four members of the Missouri 4-H Hippology Team were Hailey Luthenauer (Knox County), Adalena McAsey (Andrew County), Jolynn Scott (Lafayette County) and Adalyn Sevits (Schuyler County).

After evaluating four live classes, one written exam, one team problem and 10 stations, the team finished in the top 10 in three of the four divisions. The team took eighth place out of 22 total teams.

Competing in the National Equine Public Speaking Contest was Darcy Davis, from Clinton County. Darcy presented a speech titled “Importance of PPE,” placing her eighth in the contest.

Taylor Reeves, of Ray County, represented Missouri in the Individual Presentation Contest. Norah Randle and Rylee Slye, both from Laclede County, also competed as individuals in the Horse Judging Contest.
