CENTRALIA, Mo. – Women involved in the dairy industry are invited to attend an on-farm field trip to learn more about lavender production.

The University of Missouri’s Women in Dairy group is scheduled to tour and smell the lavender fields at Battlefield Lavender in Centralia 5-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12.

“Lavender production holds the opportunity to supplement your income or at minimum lift your spirits,” says MU Extension dairy specialist Reagan Bluel.

Owner-operators will lead the tour answering all the need-to-know production questions to begin your personal lavender oasis, Bluel says.

“This year’s Women in Dairy scheduled programs have been around value-added agriculture,” she says. “What can gals do around to the farm to supplement their milk check?”

Advance registration is required. Go to https://mizzou.us/LavenderTour2023 or call 417-847-3161 for details and registration. The $10 per person fee can be paid at the door on the day of the event.

For more information, contact Bluel at BluelRJ@missouri.edu or Chloe Collins at chloecollins@missouri.edu.

“While there’s always something to do on a farm, I hope gals will take time to spend the evening with a great group of like-minded ladies and learn about the feasibility of lavender production,” Bluel says.
