COLUMBIA, Mo. – Quality of life is affected by the quality of the neighborhoods in which people live. In the latest episode of “Show-Me MO Success,” the University of Missouri’s Business and Community Extension podcast, listeners learn how the Neighborhood Leadership Academy helps community volunteers develop projects to improve their neighborhoods.

In this episode, host Luke Dietterle interviews MU Extension community development specialist David Burton and Shari McCallister, community volunteer and owner of D&L Florist in Houston, Missouri, to discuss National Good Neighbor Day, which is observed in the fall, and the Neighborhood Leadership Academy.

“In Greene County, celebrating Missouri Good Neighbor Week and National Good Neighbor Day has exposed a lot of new people to what MU Extension is doing,” says Burton. “I have five county extension council members that came about because of neighboring projects that they did.”

MU Extension has programs to benefit Missourians throughout the state. This podcast features faculty members and their clients discussing the impact of these programs on communities and businesses in Missouri. Podcast listeners will hear how to reach out to MU Extension to access resources.
