COLUMBIA, Mo. – Closing the gender gap in civic representation is the focus of the latest episode of “Show-Me MO Success,” a podcast from University of Missouri Business and Community Extension.

Research shows that women are underrepresented on powerful boards and commissions in Missouri. In this episode, host Luke Dietterle, MU Extension engagement specialist Amber Childers and Beth Felski, appointments project director for United WE (Women’s Empowerment), discuss Show-Me REDI, a new initiative to help Missouri women take a seat at the civic table.

“Oftentimes, the path for elected office is through appointed positions, so encouraging more women to be a part of the process at the local level can be a key determining factor,” Felski says.

MU Extension has programs to benefit Missourians throughout the state. “Show-Me MO Success” features faculty members and their clients discussing the impact of these programs on communities and businesses in Missouri. Podcast listeners will hear how to reach out to MU Extension to access resources.
