HARRISONVILLE, Mo. – Community members may enroll in Strong Couples, a free program offered by University of Missouri Extension that offers practical strategies for improving conflict resolution and enhancing relationship satisfaction.

“The Strong Couples program is truly an innovative approach to relationship education,” says MU Extension human development and family science specialist Kyleigh Brown. Through the program, developed by University of Illinois Extension, couples complete six online modules of the evidence-based ePREP relationship education program from the comfort of their own home. They are also paired with a trained extension coach who will host virtual meetings between modules for couples to practice their skills.

“This class is an excellent opportunity for couples to do as a premarital course,” Brown said. “Studies have found that premarital programs do decrease a couple’s likelihood for divorce, and PREP is recognized as one of the most empirically supported. The program is a no-cost opportunity that can help couples ensure their ‘happily ever after.’”

Illinois Extension funds the program, so there is no cost to participate.

To enroll, mixed-sex or same-sex couples must be 18 years or older, Missouri residents, and married, engaged or living together for at least six months. Online registration.
