A message from University of Missouri Vice Chancellor for Extension and Engagement Chad Higgins.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Washburn as the next associate vice chancellor for extension and engagement at the University of Missouri. Dr. Washburn will provide academic leadership and direction for the educational programs and initiatives that advance the mission of MU Extension and Engagement.

In this role, Lisa will be dedicated to developing, overseeing and enhancing high-quality educational programs that address Missouri’s challenges related to agriculture, the economy, education and health. Together, Lisa and I will lead the strategic vision for university-wide public engagement, fostering strong connections with academic and administrative units across the UM System to promote interdisciplinary, collaborative programs that tackle key local, state and national challenges.

With extensive experience in higher education and a commitment to innovation, Lisa will set the direction for extension and engagement, guiding program priorities, partnerships and data-driven approaches to assessment and evaluation. She will play an essential role in building the impact of our programs statewide by promoting research-based approaches and focusing on program quality and relevance.

Leslie Speller-Henderson will serve as interim program director for Health and Human Sciences until permanent programmatic leadership is selected.

I would also like to extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Sarah Traub for her outstanding service as interim associate vice chancellor during this time of transition. Her leadership and dedication have been instrumental in maintaining the momentum and impact of our programs.
