MU Hundley-Whaley field day to showcase crop research, management strategies on Sept. 3

ALBANY, Mo. – The Hundley-Whaley Extension and Education Center invites producers, agribusiness professionals and community members to attend its annual field day Thursday, Sept. 3, for updates on crop research and management strategies for northwestern Missouri farms.

The free event will feature University of Missouri researchers and specialists discussing timely topics affecting corn and soybean production, including disease management, field drainage challenges, biological crop stimulants and planting date considerations.

MU Extension specialists and faculty members will present research findings and recommendations. Speakers and topics include:

• Mandy Bish – “Managing the Margin: Disease Updates and Fungicide Decisions”
• Kelly Nelson – “Blind Inlets in Terraced Fields”
• Gurbir Singh – “Biological Stimulants in Corn: Hype or Reality?”
• Andre Reis – “Optimizing Soybean Yield Across Planting Dates in the Northwest Region”

“Field days are a cornerstone of the University of Missouri’s land-grant mission, providing an opportunity for producers to see research in action and interact directly with specialists addressing the challenges facing agriculture today,” said Shawn Deering, director of the MU Hundley-Whaley Extension and Education Center. “By taking research out of the classroom and into the field, we can better serve our communities and provide producers with tools and knowledge they can apply on their operations.”

The event begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by introductions at 8:30 a.m. Field tours run 9-11 a.m. Admission is free.

MU Hundley-Whaley Center is in Gentry County at 1109 S. Birch St., Albany.
