JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – On March 26, almost 900 Missouri 4-H members, staff, volunteers and parents gathered in Jefferson City for 4-H Day at the Capitol, a day of civic engagement, leadership and advocacy.

Gov. Mike Kehoe and First Lady Claudia Kehoe welcomed Missouri 4-H members, recognizing the impact of 4-H in developing confident and capable young leaders. Throughout the day, 4-H’ers met with state representatives and senators, sharing their experiences and highlighting the value of University of Missouri Extension’s 4-H programs in building skills for life and careers.

Through this experience, Missouri 4-H’ers are proving they are prepared to lead, serve and shape the future, said Lupita Fabregas, Missouri 4-H senior director. “4-H prepares young people to be engaged citizens, problem-solvers and future leaders. Events like 4-H Day at the Capitol reinforce that Missouri 4-H youth are ‘Beyond Ready’ to make an impact in their communities and beyond.”

A program of University of Missouri Extension, Missouri 4-H equips youths with the tools and experiences needed to thrive in agriculture, STEM, civic engagement and more, Fabregas said. With hands-on learning and mentorship from dedicated volunteers, Missouri 4-H ensures that the next generation is prepared to lead with confidence and purpose, she said.
