    Missouri 4-H'er Alyssa Thornhill placed fifth in impromptu speaking at the 2025 Western National Roundup public speaking contest in Denver, Colo.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Two Missouri 4-H members competed in January at the 2025 Western National Roundup Public Speaking Contest, an annual event held in tandem with the Western National Stock Show in Denver.

This year, Marah Greiman of Marion County and Alyssa Thornhill of Adair County competed in prepared and impromptu speaking. Thornhill placed fifth overall in impromptu speaking at the contest, said Megan Kershner, state 4-H leadership and civic engagement educator

Missouri 4-H members chosen to compete at the Western National Roundup were selected from Missouri 4-H’s 2024 state competitions.

Programs offered by Missouri 4-H would not be possible without support from our partners. Major support for Missouri 4-H Leadership programs was provided by the Missouri 4-H Foundation in partnership with Invenergy, Miller Family Foundation, Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council, Mary Davis, the Hertzog Family, the Martz Family, Dr. Marla J.
