COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri 4-H hosted its annual State Poultry Day on March 22 at the University of Missouri Animal Science Research Center. Fifty 4-H members gathered to participate in a variety of contests and educational activities focused on the poultry industry, said Kelsey Fuller, MU Extension state 4-H agriculture educator.
Participants competed in Poultry Judging Contests, Poultry Quiz Bowl, Photo Contests and a Dozen Egg Contest.
The State 4-H Poultry Day provides members with hands-on experiences in cutting-edge industry practices as well as basic knowledge to help them succeed in their projects, Fuller said. “Members gained skills in grading eggs, identifying poultry parts and selecting quality live poultry while networking with youths from around the state who shared similar interests, she said.
The educational sessions in 2026, allowed families to explore additional opportunities in the revamped Egg Chef Challenge and the classic Chicken BBQ contests.
