COLUMBIA, Mo. – The fourth annual Missouri 4-H Clover Clays Charity Shoot raised more than $25,000 to support the Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports program March 16 at the Prairie Grove Shooting Sports Complex.
The event brought together teams and sponsors from across the state for a day of competition, camaraderie and philanthropy, said Rachel Augustine, director of the Missouri 4-H Foundation.
Funds raised will directly support University of Missouri Extension 4-H’s Shooting Sports program, ensuring continued opportunities for youths to develop essential skills in marksmanship, responsibility and sportsmanship, Augustine said. “Through hands-on experiences, participants become ‘4-H Beyond Ready’—equipped with confidence, leadership and life skills that extend far beyond the range.”
At the event, Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports teams representing the state at the upcoming National 4-H Shooting Sports Championships organized and contributed silent auction packages to help offset their team expenses. Their initiative and leadership showcased the dedication of Missouri 4-H youths as they prepare to compete and represent Missouri on a national stage, Augustine said.
“The energy and generosity behind Clover Clays continues to grow each year,” she said. “Not only are we investing in the future of our young people, but we’re also seeing them step up as leaders, working together to support their teams and their goals. That’s what Beyond Ready is all about.”
“This event is a true team effort,” said event chair Travis Scott. “From our volunteers to our youth participants, it’s incredible to see everyone come together to support opportunities that make a lasting impact.”
“This program is about much more than competition,” said Jim Sappington, Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports coordinator. “It’s about building confidence, responsibility and leadership in our young people. Seeing our members and volunteers not only compete but also step up to support events like this speaks volumes about the character and impact of Missouri 4-H Shooting Sports.”
The Missouri 4-H Foundation extends its thanks to everyone who contributed to this year’s event and looks forward to building on this success in the years to come, Augustine said.
