Multi-County Council Training
Urban West Region | 2026
After the success of last year’s multi-county council training, we are excited to continue the tradition in 2026 with a newly revised and expanded program.
This year’s training will provide both foundational information for new members and refreshed guidance for returning council leaders. Together, we will explore:
Who MU Extension is and what we do
The core pillars of responsibility for county council members
Available tools, resources, and reporting structures
Time to connect with regional specialists and fellow council members across the Urban West counties
In all 114 Missouri counties, an MU Extension county council—comprised of elected and appointed citizens—guides local educational programming. Council members serve as partners in the full educational process, from community needs assessment through program implementation and evaluation of outcomes.
During this training, council members will learn how to:
Work with regional specialists to develop and deliver county educational programs
Manage finances and ensure responsible stewardship of local extension operations
Support personnel and infrastructure needed to carry out extension activities
Elect officers and organize the local extension council effectively
Whether you are new to council service or a seasoned member, this training is designed to strengthen your leadership and enhance your impact in your county.
