The Lake Area Master Gardeners will host their fifth annual Garden Festival on Saturday, May 16, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Community Christian Church. This event serves as a fundraiser for the Lake Area Master Gardeners’ college scholarship fund.
Two educational presentations are scheduled:
- 11:00 a.m. – Marinea Mehrhoff of Ozark Prairie Master Gardeners will present on growing orchids.
- 12:00 p.m. – Jane Haslag from the Missouri Prairie Foundation will share her experiences in “Restoring Home… The Journey Back to Native.”
A plant sale will take place throughout the event, featuring a wide selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables, native plants, and succulents. LAMG is partnering with Missouri Wildflower Nursery to offer an expanded variety of native plants. Garden-themed crafts handmade by LAMG members and garden gloves will also be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the scholarship fund.
An information booth will provide free educational materials on gardening topics, including publications from the Missouri Department of Conservation and University of Missouri Extension.
Festival attendees are encouraged to enjoy a self-guided tour of the Community Christian Church’s peaceful garden, where LAMG members will be available to answer questions.
