The AmeriCorps Senior (RSVP) program offers a unique opportunity for volunteers aged 55 and older to serve their communities in impactful ways. Through the Extension Garden Steward program, AmeriCorps Senior volunteers will facilitate a 5-week course that covers the basics of gardening, with an emphasis on environmental stewardship. The program includes engaging presentations and hands-on activities and is free for residents of Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties. As a volunteer, you’ll receive a free soil test, official recognition as an AmeriCorps Senior, and the hours spent facilitating this course can count toward your Extension Master Gardener (EMG) outreach hours.
