Field to Freezer – Deer Summer Sausage Class – Oct. 27 Ava, Mo. – The Douglas County University of Missouri Extension in Stone County is a program on how to make summer sausage with a deer harvest.
The program attendees will also score some white-tail deer antlers. Processing your own deer is a great way to ensure you enjoy your harvest while saving money. All of the equipment used in the program is readily available at local retailers. Each participant will leave with approximately 1 to 1 ½ pounds of summer sausage to cook at home.
The program also includes hands-on training on how to properly score deer antlers using Pope/Young and Boone & Crocket scoring methods. Each person will have the opportunity to score multiple antlers that will be provided. Participants will not receive certification to be an official scorer.
The workshop is October 27th, 6:00p.m. – 8: 00p.m, at Ava General Baptist Activity Center, 213 E Webster Ave, Ava, MO.
The cost of the workshop is $15 per person light snacks for the evening will be provided.
