DeKalb County 4-H Recognition

Celebrating Achievement, Leadership, Service & Growth

DeKalb County 4-H Recognition Night is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of our youth, volunteers, clubs, and supporters throughout the 4-H year. From completing projects and earning premiums to demonstrating leadership and serving their communities, recognition highlights the many ways DeKalb County 4-H members learn by doing and grow through their experiences.

Youth Project Recognition

Youth are recognized for their hard work and accomplishments throughout the 4-H year. Project pins recognize youth who document their project experiences through Missouri Recognition Forms (MRFs) or Project Report Forms. Youth may also be recognized for premiums earned at Achievement Day and the Northwest Missouri State Fair.

Missouri Recognition Forms

The Missouri Recognition Form (MRF) gives youth an opportunity to document their 4-H activities, experiences, accomplishments, and what they learned throughout the 4-H year.

MRFs are divided into three age-based levels:

  • Level 1: Ages 8–10
  • Level 2: Ages 11–13
  • Level 3: Ages 14–18

Youth who earn 80 points or more at the county level are eligible for regional judging. Regional winners may have opportunities to receive scholarships for 4-H Camp, Teen Conference, or State Congress. Level 3 winners may also qualify for an opportunity to interview for National 4-H Congress.

Club Officer Recognition

Leadership happens at every level of 4-H. Club secretaries and treasurers have important responsibilities in helping their clubs succeed. Their records can be submitted for judging at the end of the 4-H year.

The Secretary and Treasurer Book Awards recognize youth who demonstrate responsibility and organization through their club officer roles.

Club Scrapbook Award

The club scrapbook provides an opportunity for members to work together to document and reflect on their 4-H year. Filled with photographs, memories, accomplishments, and experiences, the scrapbook becomes a part of the club's history.

Rookie of the Year

The Rookie of the Year award recognizes first-year 4-H members who demonstrate strong participation and excel during their first year as a club member. DeKalb County recognizes a Rookie Boy and Rookie Girl within participating clubs.

Outstanding 4-H Member

The Outstanding Boy and Girl of the Year awards recognize youth nominated by their club leaders who demonstrate exceptional participation, leadership, and involvement in club, county, regional, and state activities throughout the 4-H year.

I Dare You Award

The I Dare You Award recognizes young people who demonstrate leadership qualities, strong character, and a commitment to service. Rather than being a competition, the award encourages youth to recognize their leadership potential, strive toward their highest potential, and positively influence others.

Recognizing Our 4-H Champions

4-H would not be possible without the adults, families, community members, and organizations that support our youth.

DeKalb County recognizes individuals who demonstrate a lifelong commitment to 4-H through the DeKalb County 4-H Hall of Fame and recognizes community supporters through the Friend of 4-H Award

Celebrating 4-H Leadership

Youth leadership is an important part of the DeKalb County 4-H experience. County 4-H Council officers dedicate additional time to meetings, representing their clubs, sharing ideas, and providing leadership at the county level. Their service is recognized as they complete their terms of office.

Recognition is more than an award. It is an opportunity to celebrate the effort, growth, leadership, and experiences that make each 4-H journey unique. Please join us in celebrating our members and volunteer achievements on September 27th at 5pm DeKalb County Youth Building.

Congratulations to all DeKalb County 4-H members, volunteers, clubs, families, and supporters for another year of learning, leading, and making the best better!
