Child care is the workforce of the workforce. If we want to keep the economy thriving, we must ensure that the community has a thriving child care system. MU Extension will feature 3 opportunities to learn more about how child care supports Missouri's economy and how individuals can take action in their communities.

Description:

Learn about early child care’s impact on businesses. Without early child care, employers struggle to retain and recruit employees. Every year, Missouri loses $1.14 billion in economic opportunity and tax revenue. Additionally, the affordability and availability of early child care in a community limits a family’s ability to participate in the workforce, especially women. Early child care is vital for businesses and the economy to thrive. At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how child care supports businesses in their local communities.
  • Understand the importance of engaging with the local business community.
  • Develop messaginging to raise awareness about the importance of child care businesses in supporting other local businesses.

This class is interactive and involves participating in small and large group discussions.
