Council Meetings

The Madison County Extension Council meets at the MU Extension Center at 6:00 PM on the first Monday of the month.

Nominations are being accepted for the 2019 election of the Madison County University of Missouri Extension Council members, according to Council Chairman Roger Stevens.

Council members are elected or appointed to two-year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms. Adult nominees must be at least 18 and must reside in Madison County. Effective October 2014, the council has agreed to host two youth council members aged 15 to 19 years. Youth nominees will not have a voting position, but will have ample opportunities to develop leadership skills. All nominations must be made prior to December 15th, 2018.

"We want nominees who are interested in education and the progress of our community," County Program Director DeNae Gitonga said. "The resources of the University of Missouri System and Lincoln University are available to us. We need active council members to help plan educational programs and to work with University of Missouri Extension specialists."

Nominations may be made through the council members or the Madison County MU Extension Center. Nominees will be contacted to secure permission to place their names on the January 2019 ballot.

University of Missouri Extension offers educational programs in categories such as agriculture, home economics, business and industry, community development, nutrition education, youth development (4-H) and various continuing education courses, seminars and workshops.

If you are interested in running in the 2019 council election, please complete a consent to be nominate form and return to the MU Extension Center in Madison County or e-mail klineju@missouri.edu by December 15th.
