Mondays, March 5, 12, 19, 26 and April 2, 2012, 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m.  Evangelical United Church of Christ, 33 S. Ellis (Off William Street) in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Fun informative parenting sessions, Door prizes, Dinner (served at 5:45 p.m.)  No fee for attending. Open to the public. Registration is required by Feb. 28, 2012, to Kay Azuma, Community Caring Council at 573-651-3747 Ext. 104.

Fast Trac — Take Charge of Your Business — Program provides insight, strategy, guidance, coaching, networking opportunites and much more!. 

10-session program with 2 sessions per week. Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. There is no fee to register but seats are limited. Call by Feb. 6 to the extension center at 573-243-3581 to register.

Extension Council elections

The Extension Council election in Cape Girardeau County in now complete for 2012 — New and re-elected members are:

Sue Jones, Mark S. Kasten, Don Koehler, Barbara Marshall, William Meyer, Dan O'Loughlin, Erna Phillips and Mark Puchbauer.

 Pesticide Recertification

Due to the large number of Certified Private Applicator License that will expire in 2012, the Cape Girardeau County Extension Office will be offering the following dates and times to renew your applicators license:  Jan. 17 through Jan. 31. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. To renew your license you are required to watch a DVD here at the Extension Center. The DVD is 2 hours and 20 minutes in length. You are also required (for each farming operation) to purchase a Certified Pesticide Applicator Reference Manual, these are available at the Office for $6 each. We have also set up 2 evenings for viewing of the DVD for those unable to attend during the daytime. Monday, Jan. 30, and Thursday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m.  If you plan to come for one of the evening programs — please call the extension center by 3 p.m. on the day of the program you are planning to attend so we can have enough manuals available. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren

Offered at two different locations:  In Jackson at the Extension Center (684 W. Jackson Trail) the second Wednesday of each month:  Feb. 8, Mar. 14, Apr. 11 & May 2, at 10:00 a.m.  At First Baptist Church of Whitewater, 180 W. Main Street, Whitewater, Mo. Mondays, Mar. 12 and May 7 at 6 - 7:30 p.m.  Registration:  Free, Please call the Cape Girardeau County Extension Center at 573-243-3581 to let us know you are coming so we can plan for food and babysitting.

Master Gardener Training Program

Fun and informative classes for Gardeners of all skill levels!

When:  Thursdays - Feb. 9 - April 19, 2012, 6 - 9 p.m.  At the Cape Girardeau County Extension Center in Jackson, Mo.(684 W. Jackson Trail)  Cost $175 (includes $50 deposit refundable upon completion of first year's volunteer requirement.) Registration deadline is Feb. 3, 2012.  A minimum of 12 participants is required to hold the class. Contact Donna Aufdenberg, horticulture specialist at 573-238-2420.
