T-minus one month until new website launch!
MU Extension is happy to announce that the new website will go live on Dec. 13. It may take a day or two for you to see the new site as it rolls out across the internet, so don’t fret if you still see the old site for 48 to 72 hours after launch – that is normal. In addition, Google may take up to two weeks to fully index the site, so Google rankings (where your page appears in Google search results) may be affected during that time. Because we have retained 99% of existing web addresses, we hope the impact to search will be short-lived.
Because of the upcoming transition, we will be in a full content lock from Dec. 1 through Dec. 13. No standard content changes will be made on the current site during that time. If there are emergency changes that need to be made during that window, please contact [email protected]. In addition, the store (publications and services) will be offline from Dec. 13 until Jan. 2. This gives us the time to ensure that orders will flow properly without error when we bring the store back online. If you need something urgently during that time, please email [email protected].
The web team has worked very hard to minimize the "change element" for end users, but the site will look different. The biggest changes:
- MU Extension Way has been integrated into the main site. You can access all resources currently in MU Extension Way from the "For employees" link in the footer. (Hint: Bookmark it for quicker future access!)
- We have removed user accounts – the site is fully accessible from the moment you arrive without the need to log in. More information will be coming about placing nontaxable orders for employees, county offices, and tax-free organizations.
- Navigation on pages has moved from the left to the right side of the screen.
- What used to be "interest areas" are now called "topics."
Please check your pages as soon as possible after Dec. 13 to ensure accuracy. The web team has been diligent to ensure that all your information exists on the new site as it does on the current site. That said, getting everything perfect on over 20,000 pages is a Herculean task. If you see something missing or out-of-place on your pages after Dec. 13, please let us know by emailing [email protected]. This rollout affects more than 300 programs, counties and content areas, so please be patient with us as we correct things as efficiently as we can. Thank you to everyone for your help as we work to Serve Missouri and Deliver Mizzou via the World Wide Web!
