Defining a CEU and transcript requests for course work completed with all MU Extension units

businessman using a tablet in a seminar room with attendees in the backgroundMU Extension, in partnership with the University’s schools and colleges, offers noncredit continuing education opportunities through its courses, conferences and trainings. Many of these professional development noncredit offerings award continuing education units (CEUs). These efforts contribute to the success of public sector organizations and private industries throughout Missouri and the nation.

Participants who complete an approved course, conference or training earn CEUs. The continuing education unit is defined as: ten contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction and qualified instruction.

The number of CEUs to be awarded will be included in the event description. One CEU is equivalent to ten contact hours of participation in an activity and may be awarded in tenths of a unit (e.g. 10 contact hours = 1.0; 11=1.1).

CEU records are a nationally recognized permanent proof of continuing education efforts. They provide the recipient the means to demonstrate to a current or prospective employer their efforts toward keeping abreast of the latest developments in a particular field of endeavor.
