COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Extension will hold a free school on early-season disease scouting and the “MU Certified” Strip Trial Program 9 a.m.-noon Tuesday, June 29, in Auxvasse.

The event will be at Rothermich Farms, where attendees can see strip trial plots and host Linus Rothermich will tell of his experiences as a program participant.

Other speakers include MU Extension agricultural engineer Charles Ellis and MU Extension nutrient management specialist John Lory. Both work on cover crop strip trials with Rothermich. They will discuss some of the challenges of nitrogen management with cover crops and share what the program’s research shows from long-term trials.

MU Extension plant pathologist Kaitlyn Bissonnette will walk a soybean field, update farmers on diseases and pests and show how to scout for them.

MU Extension agronomist Rusty Lee will talk about managing fungicide resistance.

To preregister, call 572-564-3733, or register online at www.cvent.com/d/5mqj3s/4W. A head count is needed for the free lunch and handouts.
