Workplace Chronic Disease Self-Management Program

Description

The workplace Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (wCDSMP) is a six week, highly interactive group program to help people gain self-confidence in their ability to control their symptoms and learn how their health problems affect their lives. This program focuses on work/life balance while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Topics include techniques to help balance work and home life; dealing with feelings of frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; appropriate exercise; medication use; nutrition; decision-making; how to evaluate new treatments; and communicating effectively with family, friends and health team. wCDSMP is an evidenced based program developed by researchers at Stanford University and the University of Georgia and now managed by the Self Management Resource Center.
