The Arthritis Foundation’s Walk With Ease Program is a community-based physical activity and self-management education program. While walking is the central activity, Walk With Ease is a multi-component program that also includes health education, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies. The program includes a guidebook and a walking schedule to get you safely moving toward better health.

Studies show that Walk With Ease is proven to:

  • Reduce the pain and discomfort of arthritis
  • Increase balance, strength and walking pace
  • Build confidence in your ability to be physically active
  • Improve overall health

This 6-week virtual Walk With Ease program is offered as a self-guided course accompanied by weekly check-ins with trained instructors from MU Extension. Participants will discuss successes, challenges, receive education about physical activity and walking, and get questions answered.  Participants will walk on their own (or with a buddy) 3 times per week and keep track on a weekly activity log.

Weekly Zoom sessions offered Tuesdays, 2-3pm or Thursdays, 12-1pm.

Opportunities for group walks will be offered in Columbia, Fayette, and Glasgow, MO during the program.
