Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 2 - Online - Urban East
The evidence based Stay Strong, Stay Healthy (SSSH) program is designed to increase independent living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength training program. Stay Strong, Stay Healthy- Level 2 is a follow-up to Level 1, though one does not have to complete level 1 to be a part of this class. It is for those who want to challenge themselves a bit more! Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to improve strength, flexibility and balance. At each session, a prescribed set of eight to 10 upper and lower body strengthening exercises are completed along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Participants are made to feel comfortable and are encouraged to gradually build the strength beneficial to health.
This class will be held virtually via Zoom. Participants located in the St. Louis area can checkout weights form the Kirkwood or St. Peters Extension office locations or can purchase their own weights. We recommend 2 varying sizes of dumbbells and adjustable ankle weights.
