Stay Strong, Stay Healthy - Level 1 - Jefferson City

Description

The Stay Strong, Stay Healthy program is designed to increase independent-living older adults’ access to a safe, structured, and effective strength-training program. Over eight weeks, participants learn exercises to increase strength, flexibility, and balance, as well as improve other components of physical and mental health. At each class, a prescribed set of eight upper and lower body strengthening exercises are done along with warm-up and cool-down stretches. Hand and ankle weights are provided for use in class. Participants are made to feel comfortable regardless of their current fitness level so they can safely participate and benefit from the exercises. This is a research-based program developed by MU Extension.
