School Protection Officer Certification Course


The School Protection Officer Certification seminar is offered once per calendar year here at the Law Enforcement Training Institute. A participant should have their Missouri Concealed Carry Permit prior to requesting to be an SPO. 

The training is 120 hours and meets all of the statutory requirements for the SPO certification as set forth in the Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri. 

The training is all day, 5 days a week, for the three weeks, there are some night trainings as well. The training includes; use of force justification, emergency response, building search, survival mentality, handcuffing and restraint devices, weapon retention and disarming, defensive tactics, firearms training, medical training, statutory law and other classes.

There will be several late evening classes but generally it will be 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.



Cost for SPO will be $2100 per person for the course. ($250.00 non-refundable deposit required at registration.) 

The fee includes all texts, notebooks, firing range fees, a graduation certificate and continuing education units (CEUs). 

The cost of ammunition is not included in that cost and you should prepare to expend about 1500 rounds of duty quality ammunition during the class. 

You must also provide your own gear for the course including; gun, holster, eye protection, hearing protection, etc…
