On-Target Evidence Recovery Skill Sets for Police and Fire Personnel Seminar

This two-day course (lecture and practical exercise based) is designed for any Police/Fire (Sworn or Civilian) personnel who respond to investigative assignments. Presented foundational course materials can build upon recruit academy concepts and will provide attendees with some functional basic crime scene analysis and recovery skills.

Property crimes often are not processed for potential evidence recovery, allowing unidentified offenders to continue victimizing others. Field application of taught methodologies and scientific principles can increase agency case clearance rates and concurrently improve related criminal prosecution efforts. Course based basic recovery skills have applications at both person and property crime scenes investigations.

Participants will return with the knowledge on how to identify and collect evidence at a first responder level as well as understanding the availability of other evidence and forensic resources.

Note: Individually owned flashlight use is encouraged during classroom practical exercises. Students can bring any other available camera or forensic equipment to build confidence-familiarity of use during the training. Practice materials will be provided at the training.

Your presenter: R.P. “Rusty” Sullivan on-going 40 year law enforcement sworn and civilian career continues to build upon 20 years of accumulated full-time forensic practitioner/supervisor assignments. He has served as the President and Chairman of the Board of the Illinois Division of the International Association for Identification. He has over 18 years of presenting in this field and has provided annual state level forensic training conferences and workshop(s) and is a court recognized expert in the forensic sub-disciplines of Latent Fingerprint and Digital Data Recovery.
