Certified Fire and Ambulance District Board Training - Virtual - CP21220

This workshop will provide the necessary training and education required for newly appointed fire district board members under Missouri state law. The Missouri Association of Fire Protection Districts has developed the curriculum used in this class to assist new board members in understanding legal liabilities and personal obligations of their position. Topics include: authority of the board, responsibilities, rules, laws of elected boards, elections, and how to preside at a meeting.

Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST)

  • 8 hours Legal

The course will be delivered virtually on three consecutive evenings from 6 pm to approximately 9 pm each evening. Participants must attend via videoconferencing all three consecutive evenings to receive a Vice Chancellor's certificate of completion from the University of Missouri's Fire and Rescue Training Institute. Participants without videoconferencing capabilities, including sufficient internet bandwidth and computer navigation skills, must arrange to participate from a location with such capabilities and/or assistance, e.g., district headquarters.

Prior to the course, participants must ensure they have access to or print out the Rules of Missouri Ambulance Districts or the Rules for Missouri Fire Protection Districts--both available for free from the University of Missouri Extension at the following respective links: https://extension.missouri.edu/dm4004 and https://extension.missouri.edu/dm4002.
