Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions

Description

The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program (CDSMP) is a six week, highly interactive group program to help people gain self-confidence in their ability to control their symptoms and learn how their health problems affect their lives. Topics include dealing with feelings of fear and isolation, appropriate exercise, medication use, nutrition, managing depression, how to evaluate new treatments, and communicating with family, friends and health team. CDSMP is an evidenced based program developed at Stanford University and now managed by the Self Management Resource Center.

The program will meet on Tuesdays, October 31-December 12 from 1:00-3:30pm at the Activity and Recreation Center (ARC) in Columbia. October 31 is an orientation day and the class will not take the full time.
