Fruit and Veggie Policy Convening

Description

This three-day fact-finding, information-gathering convening is hosted by A Red Circle to gain a better understanding of how price impacts consumer choice and ultimately nutrition intake. The objectives for the convening include:

  • Provide knowledge about ways pricing can encourage eating fruits and vegetables that will provide legislators with another lever to check market and political power that is not in the interest of good health
  • Develop efforts to address the effects of economic disinvestment and racialized poverty on poor health in North County
  • Influence policy and practice for the betterment of consumers throughout the state.
  • Bring lived and examined experience of systemic disinvestment, racialized poverty, institutional flight, and the weight of unconscious bias, as well as the joy of interrelatedness, to strengthen the effectiveness of opportunities and solutions
