AVA, Mo. – University of Missouri Extension – Douglas County will host a comprehensive Livestock and Forage Outlook Program on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Ava General Baptist Church Activity Center, 213 E. Webster Avenue, one block south of the courthouse.

This educational program will equip local livestock producers with timely market insights, forage planning strategies, and practical herd management tools ahead of the 2026 production season.

Program Topics & Speakers

Participants will hear from MU Extension specialists covering key areas important to cattle operations this year:

  • Cattle Market Update for 2026
    Jake Hefley, Agricultural Business Specialist

  • Getting Ahead of the Curve: Planning for Stockpiling in Spring for Fall Success & New Forage Options (Teff, Crabgrass – Missouri-Geared Recommendations)
    Joshua Dunn, Agronomy Specialist

  • Heifer Selection & Culling Decisions
    Elizabeth Picking, Livestock Specialist

Meal & Registration

A complimentary meal will be served, made possible through program supporters.
Pre-registration is requested by March 10 to ensure meal count accuracy.
