Canine Search Awareness

Description

Hours: 4 | Prerequisites: None | Students: 15–30 | Host requirements: None

This course is designed for incident commanders who may request or manage canine search resources. Public safety canine specialists offer a wide array of fundamental services, such as patrol, arson detection, rescue and recovery detection. Frequently, these limited resources operate without department affiliation and go under utilized by incident commanders. Proactive incident commanders must therefore develop an understanding and catalog of these resources available to their jurisdictions. This course will provide an introduction to canine searchers and some critical criteria for preplanning service requests.
