2022-01 Combined Refresher Course

GOALS:

This blended course fulfills the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (MOBEMS) and NREMT’s requirements for a refresher course in continuing medical education for Emergency Medical Technicians at the Basic (EMTB) and Paramedic (EMTP) level of licensure, which may be used towards renewing your license.  This course combines convenient online learning with the traditional classroom experience.  Continuing education units (CEUs) will be awarded upon successful completion of online course content and/or classroom participation.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The EMS education program covers all emergency medical concepts and techniques currently considered to be within the responsibilities of the EMT-Basic providing emergency care in a pre-hospital setting as set forth by the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services of the State of Missouri.  This program meets or exceeds course requirements established by the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.  The education program will also cover topics related to the future trends and care methodologies in emergency medicine.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  1.  To provide a structured course of review to prepare the student to successfully complete the MOBEMS renewal process and is based on the NREMT’s NCCP National Component which requires 30 hours of continuing education with 1 mandatory in class skills/scenario check off day on January 24th, 2022.
  2. To provide the student with information on current and emerging topics in emergency medical services.
  3. To provide a blended learning environment with interactive learning, hands-on skill review, a positive learning environment, and high fidelity simulations.

CLASS SCHEDULE and DETAILS:

 CEUs will only be awarded upon completion of each course module.  Classroom attendance for the skill/scenario portion must be attended to be awarded the CEUs.  All module contents must be completed and include, but not limited to, participant interaction, quizzes, discussions, and others items.   The maximum CEUs awarded are noted in each module.
