NE Region sets council training dates for spring '04

Six training sessions for NE Region county extension council members are set for March and April. Members of the NE Regional Council Leadership Team will provide training on two modules, "How to Be an Effective Council Member" and "Understanding County Budgets and Fiscal Reports."

The modules are part of the training series, "Council Leadership: 21st Century Programs, Governance and Membership," being developed by the Council Leadership Development Committee. Two other modules -- "Recruiting Candidates for Effective County Councils" and "Mastering the Nuts and Bolts of Council Elections" -- are part of the package mailed to county extension centers earlier this month.

On March 30, Walter Carr, regional council member, and David Hill, community development specialist, will lead afternoon and evening sessions in Knox County. Elvina Cunningham, Randolph County extension council chair, and Regional Director Soneeta Grogan will conduct training, April 1, in Macon County. Carr and Grogan will be facilitators for an April 5 session at the Kirksville TCRC. The last session will be April 6 in Ralls County, facilitated by Tony Francis, Monroe County extension council member, and Livestock Specialist Chris Zumbrunnen.

Policy and Procedure
University revises Business Policy Manual

Several updates have been made to the UM Business Policy Manual; in particular, Section 412 includes new policies regarding University-provided cell phones.

The policy discourages personal use of University cell phones. Employees must reimburse the University for personal calls within 30 days of receipt of the bill.

The University's travel reimbursement policies have been revised to provide time provisions in instances in which another entity is reimbursing a portion of the expenses.
