December monthly payroll to be issued Dec. 22 Due to the holidays, December monthly payroll will be paid Dec. 22 rather than Dec. 31. To meet the early deadline, leave information must be entered into the Absence Reporting Web application by Dec. 8. The regular monthly payroll cycle will resume in January 2005 with checks issued on Jan. 31. Contact the extension payroll office at 882-5134 or 882-7755 with questions.

MU Extension hosts holiday open house MU Extension will host a holiday open house from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15 in Whitten Hall. Refreshments will be provided by the employees of Whitten and Clark Halls. Guests are invited to bring non-perishable items, which will be donated to the Central Missouri Food Bank.

2005 mileage reimbursement to increase University of Missouri mileage reimbursement rates for 2005 have been increased to 40.5 cents per mile for business travel and 15 cents per mile for moving. The date of travel is used to determine the reimbursement rate, said Shelly DeJaynes, MU Extension administrative associate. Vouchers submitted in January for December travel will be reimbursed at the 2004 rate of 37.5 cents per mile. An updated travel voucher reflecting the rate change will be available about Jan. 5.

NW Region office moves The NW Regional Director’s Office has moved to 706 S. Woodbine, Suite A, St. Joseph, MO 64507.

Reception to honor Ron Turner Ron Turner, University of Missouri executive vice president and former extension director, will be honored at a retirement reception, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13 at the Reynolds Alumni Center. A program will begin at 4:30 p.m. RSVPs may be sent by Dec. 6 to Dedree Smart, (573) 884-2609 or smartd@missouri.edu.

Ag agents change organization’s name The name of the Missouri Association of County Agricultural Agents has been changed to Missouri Agricultural Extension Professionals. The name change, approved by members at the association’s annual meeting in November, better reflects the responsibilities of regional and state extension specialists, said Tim Schnakenberger, who was elected president. Other offers are Todd Lorenz, president elect; Kevin Hansen, treasurer; and Parman Green, secretary. Mary Sobba is past president.
