The MU Center for the Digital Globe will host its second annual fall symposium, "Exploring Freedom of Expression in a Digital World," from 2-5 p.m., Oct. 23, at the Memorial Union Jesse Wrench Auditorium.
The symposium will examine how freedom of expression issues affect print media, intellectual property, business and digital media, as well as how electronic information is changing the nature of information and how businesses are adapting to this new medium.
Speakers will include Arthur S. Brisbane, publisher of the Kansas City Star; Vin Crosbie, president of Digital Deliverance; Patricia Fry, Edward H. Hinton Professor of Law; Charles Davis, executive director of the Freedom of Information Center; Clyde Bentley, MU associate professor of journalism; and Suraj Commuri, MU assistant professor of business.
The Center for the Digital Globe studies to effects of e-commerce, digitization and globalization. The center's mission includes interdisciplinary research, teaching and service to Missouri businesses. The MU College of Business, College of Human Environmental Sciences, School of Journalism and School of Law are collaborators.
