Sheep/goat production PIE set for Oct. 28-29

"Sheep and Meat Goat Production Strategies for Missouri Extension Specialists" will be Oct. 28-29 at Lincoln University. The Professional Implementation Experience will provide technical information about new production practices.

Missouri's production of sheet and meat goats has been increasing along with growing interest in small ruminant production for specialty and ethnic markets. The PIE topics will include production and management practices, genetic improvement considerations, breeding management, nutrition and feeding recommendations, herd health assessment, environmental considerations and government programs.

Regional specialists should register by Oct. 20 via the Professional Development Enrollment System.

Cambio De Colores seeks abstracts for 2004 conference

Cambio De Colores has issued a call for abstracts. The 2004 conference is set for March 10-12 at UM-St. Louis. Conference organizers are seeking abstracts on research and best practices related to change and well being: economic, social, cultural and political participation; civil rights; education; health; or youth, families and communities.

Abstracts should include author's contact information, theme addressed, presentation summary, geographic focus and format -- research paper presentation (15 minutes), best practice paper presentation (15 minutes), workshop (up to 75 minutes) or learning station (15 minutes). Research presentations should indicate the methodology and the author's intention for publication. All authors should indicate whether they agree to setting up a poster display if their paper is not selected for an oral presentation.

Abstracts should be submitted electronically by Oct. 27 to Steve Jeanetta or Corinne Valdivia. For more information, contact Jeanetta or Valdivia.
