Professional Development
UO/E 2004 Annual Conference scheduled

The entire University Outreach and Extension "family" will meet for Annual Conference, May 18-20, 2004, according to Jo Turner, 4-H program leader and chair of the planning team.

"In these times of change and challenge, it is essential that we provide professional opportunities for all UO/E faculty and staff. I'm pleased that Executive Vice President Ron Turner has committed resources for us to come together for this purpose," says Jo Turner. Sessions are planned to address professional development needs of campus and regional specialists, administrators, educational assistants and office/administrative support staff. Most sessions will be held on the UMC campus.

The 2004 Annual Conference will be conducted during what traditionally has been declared University Outreach and Extension Week in Missouri. Counties will be encouraged to plan UO/E Week celebrations throughout the month of May. Special observances, including a celebration of extension's 90th anniversary, will take place while UO/E faculty and staff are attending Annual Conference.

Plans call for plenary sessions on the opening and closing days, with subject-matter or program-content training as the focal point of the conference on all three days. Chairs for the program-based training are: Community Development -- Mary Leuci; Business and Industry -- Steve Wyatt; 4-H Youth Development -- Jo Turner; Human Environmental Sciences -- Jo Britt-Rankin; Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources -- Dave Baker and John Gardner; Office/Administrative/Support -- Milly Carter and Brenda Robinson; and Continuing Education -- Linda Butterfield Cupp and Ginny Barnes.

Turner urges all faculty and staff to mark the dates of May 18-20, 2004, for UO/E Annual Conference.
