Fall retiree meetings set
University Outreach and Extension retiree meetings are scheduled for this fall:
Central -- Oct. 8 at Community United Methodist Church, 3301 W. Broadway, Columbia; beginning at 11:30 a.m. Michael Kenny, retiree programs coordinator, will update retirees on recent changes in benefit programs. Lucille Salerno, a Columbia musicologist, will trace the history and progression of ragtime jazz.
Lamar -- Oct. 9 at Blue Top Restaurant, Old Highway 71 and Highway 160, Lamar; beginning at 11:30 a.m. Judge Frank Conley of Columbia will present "Murderers I Have Known."
Southwest -- Oct. 10 at Price Cutter Restaurant, 3260 E. Battlefield Road, Springfield; beginning at 11:30 a.m. Judge Frank Conley of Columbia will present "Murderers I Have Known."
Northwest -- Oct. 15 at the Gallatin Lions Club Community Building, 801 W. Grand, Gallatin; beginning at 11:30 a.m. Columbia historian Bill Berry will present the "The Trial of Jesse James."
Southeast -- Oct. 16 at the Cape Girardeau County extension center, 684 W. Jackson Trail, Jackson; beginning at 10:30 a.m. Robert Beasley of Columbia, a retired reporter, will share "Reminiscences of Harry Truman."
Sedalia -- Oct. 17 at the State Fair Best Western Motel and Restaurant, S. 65 Highway, Sedalia; beginning at 11:30 a.m. Linda and George McCollum will perform dulcimer music.
Northeast retirees will not meet this fall.
