Letter from EVP Turner: Progress made on resource allocation goals

Dear Colleagues:

Implementation of the resource allocation goals outlined in the June 13 issue of Weekly News has begun. Today, we are opening the search for a full-time human resources director. Community Development Program Leader Mary Leuci will chair the personnel team for this critical leadership position. The human resources director will provide leadership for recruitment and hiring, professional development, human resource policies and procedures, and recognition and incentives. (See Personnel team named for human resources director position.)

We also are making progress in prioritizing the 24 regional faculty positions to be opened for recruitment. Regional directors and program leaders reviewed the priorities of regional extension councils during last week's Program Leadership Council meeting. When these positions are opened, we will implement our new "Employees First" internal transfer policy for positions that meet the requirements.

The grant and contract specialist position is open, and we are accepting applications. We hope to have that person on board by Sept. 1. This position, created by restructuring Administrative Management positions, will provide support for faculty and staff in seeking, obtaining and accounting for grants in support of our revenue generation goals.

In upcoming issues of Weekly News, I will continue to report on our progress toward our FY04 resource allocation goals.

I want to thank you for your continued contributions to the advancement of the University Outreach and Extension mission.

With all best regards,
Yours truly,

Ron Turner
Executive Vice President
and Director
