Missouri programs featured at National Urban Extension Conference

University Outreach and Extension faculty and staff gave leadership for five workshops presented during the National Urban Extension Conference, May 6-9, in Chicago.

Dave Baker, MU assistant dean for agriculture and natural resources extension, co-presented “Extension Education in Homeland Security” with Steve Cain, Purdue University , communication specialist.

Mable Grimes, retired AA/EEO officer and director of diversity, presented, “Meeting the Challenge of Diversity in the Workplace - It Is Easier Said Than Done!!”

Kay Gasen, St. Louis urban program leader, and Sharon Laux, EC environmental design specialist, presented “Housing Strategies for Urban Neighborhoods - What Role Can Extension Play?”

Karen Elliott and Tammy Roberts, WC nutrition specialists; and Christine Dewberry, Jackson County nutrition extension assistant, presented “Kids in the Kitchen.”

Miranda Duncan, EC community development specialist, and Gasen presented “Deliberating Public Issues.”

Julie Middleton, system program director, was a member of the conference planning committee.
